Book Review: Mystery Teachings from the Living Earth by John Michael Greer

Book Review: Mystery Teachings from the Living Earth by John Michael Greer

I want to know more "Kaytdoo" about this book!  Take the time to explain what mystery school is and the seven laws.  You did name them but how does this apply to everyday life?  Whats important to know?  Did the author do an adequate job of informing his audience?   What did you like and not like?  Examples?  Why should someone buy or not buy this book?  Inquiring minds want to know! :)

Nameless is IMPRESSIVE!!!

I was a bit ambivalent about.......no, make that more like actually hesitant.....to read this maiden run edition, the virginal first time issue of Nameless Digest! I wasn’t sure what to think or expect! Ooooo….....but this sweet sick jewel doesn’t disappoint at all!

At last I have found what I have been searching for, and perhaps you may as well! This digest is filled with intelligent and thought provoking perspectives on the masters and newcomers! I’m impressed and that says a lot because this is not the usual genre for me to read.

Allow me to explain: it's a digest in a book format and has an entirely different look and feel to it, even down to the paper used to print it with. It’s different and because it’s different it attracts you, reels you in, from the odd looking macabre art work on the front cover straight through to the back cover and it’s ad for Free Fridays. Nestled snugly in between the covers is a plethora of articles, reviews, interviews, film critiques, poetry, short stories, colorful ads and pictures, and even artwork. All of this in a sensationally sweet 162 pages.

Nameless is edited by no other than the multi - talented and up and coming Jason Brock!

Jason is not only a very talented writer but also an artist and musician. Oh, and filmmaker too! Prior to picking up this first edition of Nameless I had no idea who Jason Brock was. Allow me to introduce you to Jason via his website:    *click Here* Keep your eye on him!

Nameless is about names, some new and some old; Jason Brock, Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, Kenneth Russell, Edgar Allen Poe, Lee-Anne Raymond, James Goho, Gene O’Neill, Wade German, and many more!

Jason’s heartfelt and poignant homage to the late Ray Bradbury hits home, especially if you have someone in your life that made a positive difference! The accompanying pictures said a thousand words! Shade Rupe and Ross Freedman both share their memories and the life of the late film director Kenneth Alfred Henry Russell. Thank you Shade for sharing the most memorable year near the end of his life and warm gesture to honor the late brilliant film director! For you youngsters, Russell directed, “Tommy” (the rock opera from the mid ‘70’s) and a few years later, “Altered States.” He is best known however for his controversial film, “The Devils.”

Nameless will raise many questions in your mind about human consciousness. I found the articles and reviews to encompass a vein of intelligence and to raise questions in one’s mind about society, history, politics and their respective influences on art, literature, music, and film.

The stories are imaginative and well crafted. Lee-Ann Raymond’s art work is very thought provoking. It is however, James Goho, who stands out in my mind. He matter of factly raised the question of “The Outsider” being a, “signpost towards the new gothic horror.” Now that’s something for Poe and Lovecraft fans to mull over! A definite must read, “Lovecrafts The Outsider’s A Sequel to Poe’s The Fall Of The House Of Usher?”

Namel3ss is published in limited quantities so you better snag it soon before it becomes a collector’s item! It’s that good! I rate this 5 stars

Welcome to, "The Tapping Keys!"  Enter at your own risk!

Greetings and Welcome to my Soiree!  Join me, Morgana, as I, "Tap" those keys especially for you.  I have one passion in life, reading.  My blog, "The Tapping Keys" is where I write my book reviews.  You never know what unsuspecting writer I will "tap" about next.  It's not just horror, dark fiction, and Stephen King, it's open season so that means anybody and everybody, including me!  It's amazing what a retired special education teacher with an overly active imagination and love for reading can do!
